As an owner, I wanted to replace my apartment door, which had seen better days. Little did I know what a steep learning curve was in store for me! I discovered that our apartment block had untagged asbestos-filled fire doors dating from about 1976 and, in many instances, include non-compliant locks, door closers, and non-fire rated screen doors. In one apartment the door has been replaced with a non-fire rated door. Surprisingly, previous fire and asbestos inspection reports and registers have not identified the doors as fire doors or as being asbestos filled. I also discovered that it was body corporate responsibility, so having been recently elected chair of our body corporate I immediately began to make inquiries. Of the companies approached, Scanline stood out, as being reasonably priced and very knowledgeable about the requirements (for example regarding the use of screen doors). They answered questions as they arose and were always professional in their dealings with me. Our body corp chose them to replace all six doors and they did it quickly and without fuss. One issue was that the peepholes we wanted, although installed at the correct height, were still too high for some of our tenants. Scanline offered to install a second lot of peepholes at lower height at no cost. All in all, we are very satisfied with Scanline and could recommend them.
